Exit Poll 2024 Live Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition is projected to win a majority in the general election that ends today, according to a summary of exit polls carried by news channel NDTV.

A summary of two exit polls suggested the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) could win more than 350 seats in the Lok Sabha, where 272 seats are needed for a simple majority.

The Congress-led opposition Bharat Aghadi was projected to win more than 120 seats.

Between April 19 and June 1, polling was held simultaneously across the country for the elections to the Lok Sabha as well as to the legislative assemblies of four states (Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim).

Some states like Andhra Pradesh have taken security measures to prevent any untoward incident. Police in Palnadu district of Andhra Pradesh have also warned that legal action will be taken against those who post provocative content on social media or WhatsApp.

Meanwhile, the Bharat Bloc parties took a U-turn on exit polls after announcing on May 31 that the party would not participate in any exit poll debates on television channels. “Indian parties met and decided to expose BJP and its ecosystem on predetermined exit polls. After considering the factors for and against participating in the exit poll, it has been unanimously decided that all India parties will participate in the televised exit poll debate this evening,” Mr. Khera said on X.

Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim assembly election results will be declared on June 2, Lok Sabha and other assembly elections will be counted on June 4.
