Lonavala Bhushi Dam News : Four of the five people in Hadapsar who were swept away by the waterfall behind the Bhushi Dam have died, while one is still missing. All of them belong to the same family, and this incident took place on Sunday (30th) around 12:30 in the afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as Shahista Ansari (age 37), Amina Salman alias Adil Ansari (age 13), Maria Ansari (age 7), Umera Salman alias Adil Ansari (age 7), while Adnan Ansari (age 4) is missing. The rescue operation was stopped as darkness fell. The incident took place on the first day after the dam was filled.
Bhushi Dam, a popular tourist destination, overflowed due to heavy rains in Lonavala area on Friday and Saturday. There is a waterfall behind the dam. Tourists do not go to this place. On Sunday, the Ansari family from Hadapsar had come here for the rainy season. Enjoyed soaking in the water in the afternoon.
Over-enthusiasm is life-threatening
The Ansari family had no idea that there was heavy rain in the catchment area of the dam. Meanwhile, due to a sudden rush of water, five people were swept away in the stream. tried to save each other; But there was no success. The other three members of the family who were drifting saved their lives. On getting information about the incident, INS Shivaji Kendra personnel along with members of Lonavla City Police, Shivdurg Mitra Lonavla, Wildlife Protection Maval organizations rushed to the spot and started rescue operations.
The bodies of Shahista Ansari, Amima Ansari and Umera Ansari were found by the rescue teams of Shivdurg around 4:00 PM. Scuba diving personnel of INS Shivaji Center searched for the bodies at the bottom of the water. As the water level is continuously increasing, the bodies of both were not found. The rescue operation was stopped as darkness fell. Lonavla City Police Inspector Suhas Jagtap said that the search operation will be started again on Monday (1st) morning.
