The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) confirmed this and said that Vinesh Phogat has been disqualified due to being overweight. The association said, “The Indian contingent is saddened to report that Vinesh Phogat has been disqualified from the 50 kg category of women’s wrestling. Despite the best efforts made by the team overnight, she weighed a few grams more than 50 kg this morning. There will be no further comment by the contingent at this time. The Indian contingent requests you to respect Vinesh’s privacy. She would like to focus on the current competitions.”

Vinesh won in the semi-finals
In the match played on Tuesday, Vinesh was leading 1-0 till the first round. Then in the last three minutes, she made a double leg attack on the Cuban wrestler and earned four points.
