A woman and four children drowned in this accident. According to the information received, the bodies of a woman and two girls have been found so far. The search for the two children is on. The victims have been identified as Sahista Liaqat Ansari (36), Amima Salman (13), Umra Salman (8), Adnan Ansari (4) and Maria Ansari (9).

The accident occurred due to a sudden rise in the water level at the site. It has been raining continuously for the past few days. Due to this, the flow of water in the waterfall suddenly increased.
The accident occurred when the water level suddenly rose where the family was staying. An officer of Lonavla Police Station said that the incident took place around 3 pm.
While the five were on a picnic, they slipped and fell into the water near the waterfall. After the incident, search and rescue teams reached the spot and operations were launched.
Pune Rural SP Pankaj Deshmukh said, “A woman and four children drowned in a waterfall near Bhushi Dam in Lonavala. Two bodies have been recovered. Search and rescue operations are underway. All five belong to the same family from Syed Nagar in Pune.

After 3 pm, entry of vehicles was banned in this area. Tourists are prohibited from coming to the dam and the area after 5 pm. Tourists are allowed to visit Bhushi Dam between 9 am and 3 pm. Except local buses, all other buses are also prohibited from plying in this area.
