DA HIKE UPDATE : Central employees have been hit for the third consecutive month. Currently, the Labor Bureau has not released the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI-IW) figures. The figures to be released on May 31 have been put on hold.

So now it is difficult to estimate the inflationary allowance (DA increase). This option may also develop as the Labor Bureau is delayed in calculating the dearness allowance of central employees due to lack of data for February and March. Now we have to wait for the numbers till the end of June.

Consumer Price Index (CPI-IW) data for February, March and April for industrial workers has not been released, making it difficult to take further action without knowing them.

According to a new source, the release of the figures was delayed because the Labor Bureau did not have data for the months of February and March.

Its information may be updated in the figures to be released by the end of June. Even without this official data, it is not certain that the dearness allowance will not increase in July 2024. There may be small changes in the DA calculation.

It was also discussed at this time that dearness allowance of central employees will be zero (0) from July 2024.

But there is no such rule and even the government has distanced itself from any such idea. The calculation of inflation allowance will continue to increase beyond 50 per cent, so it is not certain that it will reach zero.

DA nil when changing base year to 2016
Earlier in 2016, at the time of today’s change of base year, dearness allowance was made nil. No rule has been made in this regard. Currently there will be no change in base year.

Therefore, there is no compelling reason behind the merger of inflationary allowance. According to experts, the next DA allowance may go up to 4 percent.
