Chandigarh: Haryana Government has made an unprecedented increase in the monthly pension of freedom fighters, mother tongue satyagrahis of Hindi Movement-1957 and Emergency Satyagrahis. This increased pension will be applicable from July 1, 2024.

Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh paid tribute to the satyagrahis who fought during the Emergency to re-establish democracy and save the dignity of the Constitution. The Chief Minister said that the atrocities and excesses that took place during the Emergency have not been forgotten yet.

He said that the Haryana Government has started several schemes in honor of these democracy fighters. Haryana State Shubh Jyotsna Pension Scheme was started from December 2017. Under this, monthly pension is being given to 501 democracy fighters and their widows. He said that from July 1, 2024, their monthly pension has been increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000. Apart from this, free travel in ordinary buses of Haryana Roadways and 75 percent fare has been waived in Volvo buses. Under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh is being provided.

Pension of mother tongue satyagrahis of Hindi Movement-1957 increased to Rs 20,000

The Chief Minister said that the monthly pension given to the mother tongue satyagrahis of Hindi Movement-1957 has also been increased to Rs 20,000.

The honor pension given to freedom fighters and their dependents has been increased from Rs 25,000 to Rs 40,000

The Chief Minister said that the amount of honor pension given to freedom fighters and their dependents has also been increased from Rs 25,000 to Rs 40,000. A total of 289 freedom fighters and their dependents are being given monthly pension in the state.
