Took a horrific step after wife’s death
Agomoni was battling cancer for a long time and till Tuesday she was admitted in the ICU of a private hospital for treatment, but here Agomoni died and there, within just ten minutes, her husband Shiladitya shot himself and committed suicide. This story of both Shiladitya and Agomoni is very painful. It is also a lesson that no matter what the situation is, giving up on life and committing suicide can never be a solution to any problem.
Agomoni was battling cancer
40-year-old Agomoni was battling cancer for the last several months. Her husband Shiladitya had also taken leave from his work to take care of her. He was on leave for four months. But on Tuesday, with the death of Agomoni, he also ended his life. Agomoni was admitted in Nemcare Hospital for the last two months. Her health had deteriorated for three days. And she died at 4:25 pm on Tuesday evening.
Chetia committed suicide in the ICU cabin
After his wife’s death, Chetia went to her cabin in the ICU. He requested the hospital staff for some privacy to pray for his wife. But as soon as the staff came out of the cabin, the sound of a gunshot was heard from inside. Immediately the hospital staff went inside the cabin again, but by then Shiladitya’s body was also lying near his wife’s body, he had shot himself in the head with his service revolver.
Shiladitya Chetia was a 2009 batch IPS officer
Shiladitya was a 2009 batch IPS officer. He had also worked as SP in Tinsukia and Sonitpur districts of Assam. Before being posted as Home Secretary, he also worked as the Commandant of the 4th Battalion of Assam Police. He was awarded the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry on Independence Day in 2015.
