Pannu’s murder conspiracy –
Indian citizen Nikhil Gupta has been extradited from the Czech Republic to the US on charges of conspiring to kill Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu. According to the news agency PTI, Nikhil Gupta was brought to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn on June 16, after which he will be produced in a New York court today.
Nikhil was arrested by the Czech Republic police on 30 June 2023 with input from American agencies. Following this, a Czech Republic court rejected Nikhil Gupta’s plea to stay his extradition to the US, paving the way for his extradition.
Pannu’s murder conspiracy –
The US government had alleged that there was a conspiracy to attack Pannu in New York. India had a hand in this. This plot was foiled. However, it was not said on which day the attack would take place.
It was only after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to America in June 2023 that American officials raised this issue before India. This was revealed in a Financial Times report published on November 22, 2023.
Pannu’s murder conspiracy – On November 29, the charge sheet of the New York police in connection with the conspiracy to kill Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu in the United States was revealed. In this, Indian citizen Nikhil Gupta is accused of conspiring to kill Pannu. It reads – A former CRPF officer of India asked him to plan Pannu’s murder.
