Bangladesh Protest Latest Updates: Amid the ongoing unrest in Bangladesh, intelligence has received information that several members of banned Islamic terrorist outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and Ansarullah Bangla Team have escaped from jail.

After the ouster of the Sheikh Hasina government in Bangladesh, Indian security agencies are on full alert. India’s border with Bangladesh is being closely monitored. BSF has issued an alert along the border of its surveillance area. Security forces have been asked to keep a close watch to prevent infiltration.

DG reviewed the situation
An official said that the BSF has issued instructions to take precautions along the 4,096 km long border. BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chaudhary along with other senior officers reached West Bengal to review Indo-Bangladesh border security and issued necessary guidelines after holding a meeting of top officials. The DG also visited North 24 Parganas district boundaries.

There has been an intrusion attempt here
Recently, 10-15 Bangladeshi infiltrators tried to enter India near the Amudia border post on the Indo-Bangladesh border in West Bengal’s 24 Parganas district. All such sensitive entry points are marked and special vigilance is advised.

From Bangladesh, special surveillance is being maintained in Malupara, Halderpara, Banpur and Matiari in Nadia district in view of possible infiltration attempt. Charmarashi in Murshidabad district and Sasni border posts in Malda district are also said to be sensitive. BSF has also established liaison with Border Guards Bangladesh.

Threat from Islamic terrorists
Amid the ongoing unrest in Bangladesh, several members of the banned Islamic terrorist outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and Ansarullah Bangla Team have escaped from jail, intelligence sources said. The agency is alert to the possibility of them coming to India.

These terrorist organizations are active in the border states of India and Bangladesh. On several occasions, security agencies in India have arrested members of these organizations from West Bengal and Assam.

It is suspected that the members of these terrorist organizations may take advantage of the current chaos to infiltrate into India.

Caution in these border states
India and Bangladesh share an international border of 4,096 km, including 262 km in Assam, 856 in Tripura, 318 in Mizoram, 443 in Meghalaya and 2,217 km in West Bengal. Alerts have also been sent to the state governments at all these places.
