Rs 20.36 crore received for becoming champion

The Indian team has received a prize money of Rs 20.36 crore for becoming the world champion a day earlier. The ICC had announced an increase in the prize money before this tournament.

The team won the T20 World Cup a day earlier i.e. on June 29. The Indian team has become the champion after 17 years in this tournament. Not only this, India has ended the 11-year ICC trophy drought. India defeated South Africa by 7 runs in the final match at the Barbados ground.

After the T20 World Cup final, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired from T20 International. Rohit said in the post-match press conference, ‘This was also my last game. There couldn’t be a better time to say goodbye. I wanted this (trophy) very much. It is very difficult to put it into words.’

After the victory in the final, Virat said, ‘This was my last T20 match, so I played the same way. Now the new generation should take over.’ Kohli scored 76 runs in the final against South Africa, for this performance he also became the Player of the Match.
