A case of blackmailing Sooraj Revanna, brother of former JDS MP Prajwal Revanna, who is accused of sex scandal in Karnataka, by implicating him in a false sexual abuse case has come to light.
Karnataka’s Hassan district police has filed an FIR against two people for blackmailing Prajwal’s brother and JDS MLC Sooraj Revanna. It is alleged that these people were blackmailing Sooraj Revanna to implicate him in false sexual abuse charges.
According to the FIR, Sooraj (36) and one of his close friends Shivkumar have filed a complaint against Chetan and one of his relatives. It is said in this complaint that these people were blackmailing Sooraj and were demanding five crore rupees in exchange for implicating him in false charges.
What is the matter?
It is being said that Chetan, the accused in this case, first befriended Shivkumar. After this, he asked for help for a job citing financial difficulties. Meanwhile, Shivkumar agreed to arrange a meeting of Chetan with Sooraj Revanna during the Lok Sabha elections.
Ransom of Rs 5 crore
Meanwhile, on June 17, Chetan told Shivkumar that he had gone to Sooraj Revanna’s farmhouse a day before to ask for a job but Sooraj refused to help. After this, Chetan allegedly threatened to defame Sooraj and his family.
It is alleged that Chetan said that if he did not get Rs 5 crore, he would file a police complaint against Sooraj on charges of sexual exploitation. After this, Chetan continued to blackmail Shivkumar. He later reduced the blackmail amount to Rs 3 crore and then to Rs 2.5 crore. Chetan’s relative was also involved in this blackmailing. He used to send messages to Shivkumar from Chetan’s phone.
Chetan once again called Shivkumar on June 19 and threatened to defame Sooraj and his family if he did not get the money. Two days after this, Shivkumar and Suraj decided to lodge a police complaint against the accused. In this case, a case has been registered under IPC sections 384 (extortion) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
What is the allegation on brother Prajwal?
The first case registered against Prajwal is related to the sexual exploitation of a 47-year-old former maid. In this, he has been made an assistant accused, i.e. accused number 2, instead of the main accused. It was registered on April 28 in Holenarasipura, Hassan. In this, Prajwal’s father HD Revanna is the main accused, who is currently on bail.
Allegation of repeated rape
The second case has been registered by the CID. This case was registered on May 1. In this, a 44-year-old woman has accused Prajwal of raping her several times. The allegation has been made by none other than a female worker of JDS.
A 60-year-old woman also filed a case
The third case is also of rape, which has been registered by the SIT. The age of the victim in this is around 60 years. All three cases have been registered under section 376 of the IPC. Apart from this, a case has also been registered under 354 B, 354 C, 506.
