13 fire brigade vehicles extinguished the fire in about three hours. The cause of the fire is said to be a short circuit.

Vijay alias Bunty Agarwal’s three-storey building in Kailashnagar has a dry fruits shop named Shri Hari Kripa on the ground floor and a warehouse on the second floor. He lived with his family on the third floor. Vijay’s wife Radhika has gone to her in-laws’ house in Morena with son Ansh. Only Vijay and his two daughters Anshika alias Mini (15) and Yashika alias Yeshu (14) were at home.

On Wednesday night, all three went to sleep after having dinner. Late at night flames were seen rising from the house. The only way out of the house is from below. The fire had spread here. Another way is from the back of the house, but they had kept a cupboard here. The father and both the daughters got trapped in the fire and could not get out.

SDERF-Airforce called for help

Seeing flames rising from the house, the people of the neighborhood informed the fire brigade and police. The police and fire brigade tried to handle the situation but the fire had spread too much. SDERF (State Disaster Emergency Response Force) and Airforce were also called to the spot for help.

A 13-member team of SDERF broke the wall of the second floor with a machine. Vijay was taken out from here. The rescue team gave him CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) but there was no movement in the body. The third floor door was broken and the cupboard was removed. Both daughters were taken out from here. All three were taken to the hospital, where doctors confirmed their death.

He had started the dry fruits business two months ago

13 fire brigade vehicles arrived one after the other, and only then the fire could be brought under control by 4.30 am on Thursday. Vijay had started the dry fruits business two months ago.

Shailu Chauhan, who lives in the neighbourhood, said that the fire was very fierce. The daughters and Vijay could not come out from inside. Another neighbour Dinesh Singh Rajawat said that the fire brigade came much later after the information was given. If it had come early, perhaps all three would have been saved.

The rescue team said – there was a cupboard on the door

SDERF platoon commander and in-charge Govind Sharma said that we received information about the fire at 3 o’clock in the night. We came to the spot and broke the wall and took Vijay out. There was a door on the third floor but since there was a cupboard, that too was broken. Both the girls were taken out from the third floor.

ASP Akhilesh Rainwal says that all three were sent to the hospital but they had already died.
