The police sought permission to try him as an adult and send him to police custody, but the court refused and granted bail to the accused. According to a report in the English newspaper Indian Express, the accused’s lawyer Prashant Patil said that the court granted bail to his client on certain conditions.

When Patil was asked about the bail conditions, he said the court asked the minor accused to ‘work with the traffic police in Yerwada for 15 days’ and ‘write an essay on the accident’. Advocate Prashant Patil said that the bail conditions have directed the accused to seek treatment from a doctor who helps him quit alcohol. Apart from this, he has been instructed to consult a ‘psychiatrist’ and submit his report to the court.
The police said that the incident took place at around 2.30 pm on Sunday. The boy was driving a Porsche car very fast. He then lost control of the car near Kalyaninagar junction and hit the motorcycle. The impact was so strong that the motorcyclist Anish and his friend Ashwini, who was sitting behind him, fell on the road and died. A video of the accident has gone viral on social media, in which some local people are seen beating up the boy.
Police said both the boy who was driving the car and the young man who was riding the motorcycle were drunk. However, giving alcohol to a minor is a crime, so a case has also been registered against the bar in this regard.
According to the information given by the police officer, a case has been registered against the father of the minor accused in this accident and against the bar which provided liquor to the minor. Pune City Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has said in a statement that, in connection with this accident, action is being taken under the Juvenile Justice Act against the bar that provided alcohol to the father of the accused and the minor accused.
