On one hand, while the police is trying to stop drug abuse by running a strong campaign against drug smugglers, the drug smuggling business continues due to some corrupt employees of the department itself. A similar case came to the notice of Panipat SP Ajit Singh Shekhawat. After which he suspended five police personnel including an SI of CIA 2. All these policemen were posted in CIA 2.
According to the police, the accused police personnel released one accused involved in drug smuggling while the amount of drugs recovered from the other accused was shown less. It is alleged that the said police personnel decided to take Rs 30 lakh in exchange for this ‘mercy’ shown to the smugglers.
They took Rs 22 lakh while Rs 8 lakh was yet to be taken. On May 9, the team of CIA 2 caught Sumit alias Monnu, a resident of Chidi village of Rohtak, with 1.2 kg opium. It is alleged that the CIA 2 team extorted a huge amount from the accused in this case.
Investigation revealed that Ravindra from the same village was also carrying opium along with Sumit alias Monu. He had 2.5 kg opium. The police struck a deal with him for 30 lakh rupees and released Ravindra. However, Sumit was arrested and the amount of opium recovered from him was shown to be less. When the Superintendent of Police got wind of this case, he got the matter investigated and prima facie the allegations were found to be true.
The police arrested the accused Ravindra again after 10 days on the orders of the SP and interrogated him, then he revealed all the secrets to the police. It is worth mentioning here that the CIA 2 team has been trapped earlier also in the process of saving drug smugglers. Last year, a huge consignment of drugs was caught in the village of Rakseda of Samalkha block, in that case also the police played a big game to save the accused. —–

After the matter came to notice, the SP suspended CIA 2 in-charge Saurabh, Sub Inspector Jaiveer and Munshi. Whereas, the SPO posted at the gate was dismissed. After this, Sandeep, in-charge of Anti Narcotics Cell, has been posted in the police station.
