Meanwhile, Anish, Ashwini, plaintiff Aqib and their friends had gone to a party at Ballar Pub in Kalyaninagar. After the party, he was going home around 2.30 pm when he came near Landmark Society in Kalyaninagar. Just then, a gray Porsche car sped up on the Kalyaninagar Airport Road. The accused driver lost control of the car and hit the motorcycle of Anish and Ashwini.
The impact was so intense, Ashwini was thrown into the air. Anish was seriously injured and fell on the road. Nearby citizens and passers-by rushed to help. Anish was rushed to a nearby private hospital but died before reaching there.
In the commotion that ensued, the enraged citizens caught the minor accused on the spot and assaulted him physically. The incident was reported to the police and the footage of the accident went viral on social media platforms.
Circle 4 Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijayakumar Magar said, “Around 2.30 am on Sunday, Anish Dudia and Ashwini Costa were returning home on a two-wheeler after a party in Kalyani Nagar. A gray Porsche sports car hit his bike near Landmark Society on Airport Road. Ashwini died on the spot, while Anish died during treatment.
“A minor was driving the Porsche, which did not have a number plate. A case has been registered against the minor driver for recklessly, negligently and dangerously violating traffic rules. Assistant Inspector Vishwanath Todkari is investigating the case further.
5.2 crore car
The Rs 5.2 crore Porsche car was found during preliminary investigation to have no number plate and was not registered. The revelation has led to surprise and criticism, especially regarding a parent’s decision to entrust such a high-performance vehicle to a minor. Angry citizens have expressed concern about the apparent disparity in how the rules are enforced, suggesting that leniency is shown to the wealthy while ordinary citizens face stiff enforcement.
The speed of the car was 160-170 kmph
Eyewitnesses said that the Porsche car was traveling at a speed of 160 to 170 kmph at the time of the accident. Given its design as a sports car, it is designed for high speeds more suitable for highways rather than city streets. However, many are seen driving such high-speed vehicles in suburban areas at night, increasing the risk of accidents. These cars are equipped with airbags for the safety of the drivers, which will not harm them in such collisions.
“Under the new Road Accident Act, if an accident is caused by a minor, the parent of the minor can be booked. Accordingly, we will file a case against the owner of the Porsche and the parents of the minor driver. Additionally, the law provides for the suspension of the vehicle license of both the car owner and the minor for the next 25 years. Action will be taken based on this provision as well,” said Vijayakumar Magar.
