The accident took place on May 18 at 2:15 am in Pune. Ashwini and Anish were leaving the restaurant after having lunch on their two-wheeler when a minor Porsche hit them near Kalyaninagar. Both died on the spot. The minor victim, son of Vishal Aggarwal, a builder from Pune, was under the influence of alcohol. The court granted him bail within 15 hours asking him to write an essay on accidents.

The police have arrested Vishal Agarwal and the owner and manager of the bar where the minor consumed alcohol.

Ashwini, who lived in Sakkar Hills, Jabalpur, was the youngest in her family. Her family fondly called her Ashi. Her elder brother Samprit is a software engineer in Bangalore and her father Suresh Koshta works in the electricity department. Ashwini was working at Johnson Controls. She previously worked for Amazon and visited Jabalpur on January 14 for her birthday.

Anish from Birsingpur Pali in Umaria district had come home a month before the incident. He studied and worked in Pune and his younger brother Devesh also studied there. Anish had recently renovated a room in the house. His family, especially his mother and grandmother, are in shock.

Witnesses said the speed of the Porsche was 200 km/h. Ashwini was thrown several feet in the air, while Anish was hit by another parked car. Within 15 minutes, the police arrived and arrested the boys in the drunken car. A boy ran away from the scene.
